Atention all who live in america. If you make it a habit of surfing the web, keep in my the name of this website, car.gov. Now, before you go off and say, "ooh, sounds like fun, I think I'll go to it to see what it is", I will tell you what it is.
The website cars.gov is a website that, by accessing it, you give the federal government access to your computer. Every file on your computer, your search logs, everything on your hard drives, is readable by the federal governemtn. And why may you ask did they set this up, to look for people who are against obama care.
Oh, and if you wish, you may call the hot line to report your neighbors if you hear them saying bad things about obama. Obama has created an enemies list people, its time to choose whether you want to be on it or not.

Abominable! This violates the 1st Amendment, as well as our right to unwarranted search and seizure. This must be stopped immediately, as it is an invasion of privacy of the highest degree.

how did you find out about this?

Post 4 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 07-Aug-2009 16:58:22

I had heard about it through the talk radio network, but I wasn't sure it was true, then one of my friends fell victim, and I knew it was true.

I don't doubt it. Thanks for the warning. what's their front? I mean, to get people to go there. Most people don't just randomly go to .gov websites.

I'm in total agreement with Tyler.
And poster 6, you posed a really good question.

Ok guys, here it is. First, cars.gov is a site intended primarily only for car dealers to apply for a government ran program that was designed to boost car sales. Secondly, the only reason a private individual would have to go to this site is to examine the qualifications for this program; if you were considering turning in your old car for a new one and wanting help with through this program. However, under no circumstances is the private individual responsible for communicating with this site; private individuals aren't even permitted to register because the work for getting the money from the government is solly the responsibility of the dealer. Now, according to reliable sources (not a talk show) the wording that caused problems was solly meant to impart to the dealers that the government would use a connection to the dealership's data base to ensure that the transaction they were requesting was valid and not frodulent. Honestly, can anyone blame any intity for protecting itself? Basically it's an enhanced version of cookie tracking from what I read. Now, a recommendation? Before anyone panics and posts things to panic others look at the facts? Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I wasn't sure how else to word the recommendation. If anyone would like to check what I found go to any reliable search engine and type in "cars.gov" and click news. I used windstream's search engine as I'm a Windstream customer. Also, the program that this site was designed for is called "cash for clunkers".

and apparently, cash for clunkers is doing better than the british govt's car scrappage scheme.

To post 1, how did your friend fall victim to it?

You are just being tracked while being logged on to the site. There is nothing funky about it.

Leave it to a talk show to generate unnecessary and unfounded fears. I guess somebody's book sales are lacking?

Just one more reason I don't listen to talk radio...well at least unless my grandma's here, and then only because that's what she turns on and god forbid anyone should try changing it. She buys into all that crap. Here's a kicker, she thinks government in any form is bad and yet she gladly takes Social Security and Medicare.

Interesting to know, as my family is looking into this program. I just hope that they're not trying to do this to get perfectly working but older cars off the road. That really annoys me.

Post 14 by Big Pawed Bear (letting his paws be his guide.) on Monday, 17-Aug-2009 17:07:47

it's to encourage owners of older cars to trade in their older cars for newer fuel efficient ones, and to boost the economy too, has happened over here in the UK also.

Exactly. Everything I read about it is for the economy, and with as bad as the economy is they're trying anything and almost everything.
